Réglementation

Citizens of the following countries do not need a visa for a short stay of up to 3 months: EU, Schengen, Albania, Andorra, Antigua & Barbuda, Argentina, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Hong Kong, Israel, Japan, Macao, Macedonia, Malaysia, Mauritius, Mexico, Monaco, Montenegro, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Norway, Panama, Paraguay, San Marino, Serbia, Seychelles, Singapore, South Korea, St Kitts and Nevis, Switzerland, Taiwan, United States, Uruguay, Vatican City and Venezuela.

Nationals of the EU/EEA Member States and Switzerland are able to work without restriction in Romania. For all other nationalities, citizens need to go through a full work and residence permit application.

No official permission is required for feature film shoots or any other type of production other than the normal requirement for permission from the owner of the authority responsible for the location in question. Permits take usually no more than a week, requiring only 48 hours for most locations.

VAT standard rate in Romania is 20% (since 1 Jul 2010). Reduced V.A.T. rates of 9% and 5%. The reduced 9% VAT rate applies to hotel services, books, newspapers and medicines. The reduced 5% rate applies to buildings supply. Insurance companies, banks and financial services in Romania are exempt. Romania VAT Recovery Time: 6-12 months
