28/09/2023 - The veteran filmmaker’s final movie will be a love story, crime-drama and thriller all in one, set in modern-day Zagreb

On Tuesday 19 September, veteran Croatian filmmaker Rajko Grlić started shooting his latest film, titled It All Ends Here, on location in Zagreb. “I am glad that my last film will be a love story deeply immersed in Croatian reality,” Grlić said at the start of filming.

It All Ends Here tells the story of a successful lawyer who comes into conflict with a powerful client. Although he risks losing everything, he does not give up. Genre-wise, the film blends the elements of a love story, a crime-drama and a thriller. The script was written by the filmmaker in collaboration with writer Ante Tomić, and marks their fourth collaboration following Border Post (2006), Just Between Us [+see also:

film profile] (2016), the latter of which had a fruitful festival tour and a lengthy theatrical distribution. It All Ends Here is based on the novel On the Edge of Reason, written by Miroslav Krleža in 1938, while the adaptation moves the plot to our contemporary times.

Cast in the film are Živko Anočić, Jelena Đokić, Boris Isaković, Emir Hadžihafizbegović, Srđan Grahovac, Katarina Bistrović Darvaš, Ksenija Marinković, Marina Redžepović, Angela Nedyalkova, Anita Schmit, Doris Šarić Kukuljica, Siniša Ružić, and Dejan Đonković. Crew-wise, the film will be lensed by Branko Linta, lit by Miloš Jovanović, while the sound will be recorded by Momchilo Bozhkov. Željka Burić handles the production-design, and Morana Starčević the costume design, while Ana Bulajić Črček serves as the make-up artist.

The producer of the film is Ivan Maloča for his company Interfilm from Zagreb. RRF International (Bulgaria), Oktavijan (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Saudade Film (Turkey), West End Production (Serbia) and ABHO (Montenegro) are co-producers on the film. It All Ends Here also received financial support from the Croatian Audiovisual Centre.
