Back in October, Netflix announced a slate of five new original German series: Tribes of EuropaDon’t Try This at HomeSkylinesThe Barbarians and an untitled Christmas mini-series. The US media-service provider reported last week that shooting for Skylines had already begun.

Set in Frankfurt, the story will focus on Jinn, a young hip-hop producer whose life changes when he gets the opportunity to sign with Skyline Records, the label of rap star Kalifa. Yet making a name for himself there will turn out to be a difficult task for the young producer. Organised crime makes its way into the world of music when Ardan, the label owner’s gangster brother, returns from exile and starts pressuring his sister into giving him his share. While Ardan uses the music company for his own criminal purposes, policewoman Sara, a former friend of Kalifa’s, begins to investigate Skyline Records.
