FNE at Sofia IFF: Romania's Monsters. Wins 23rd Sofia IFF

    SOFIA: Marius Olteanu’s debut feature Monsters. won the Grand Prix in the international competition of the 23rd Sofia International Film Festival, held from 7 to 17 March 2019.

    Nicos Labôt’s Greek/French/Serbian coproduction Her Job was awarded Best Balkan film. Dragomir Sholev’s Bulgarian/Romanian coproduction The Pig received the Special Jury Award, the FIPRESCI Jury Award and the best Bulgarian feature film award.

    Sofia Municipality Awards for Contribution to World Cinema went to Krzysztof Zanussi, Bille August and Kiril Marichkov.

    The British producer Nik Powell was the president of the International Jury composed of the Turkish actress Hazar Ergüçlü, the Russian musician Stas Namin, the Polish director Ewa Podgórska and the Bulgarian director Ilian Metev.
