The Hamilton reboot is currently being filmed in Vilnius. The project, based on Swedish writer Jan Guillou's successful literary saga, is being directed by Erik Leijonborg, who has been working in the audiovisual industry for over 25 years and staged a number of recent TV series, such as The Last Kingdom (2018), Maria Wern (2008-2018) and Farang (2017). film profile], starring Mikael Persbrandt as Hamilton, were released in 2001 and 2012, respectively.

The ten-episode series, penned by Guillou in tandem with screenwriters Matthew Reeve, Petter S Rosenlund (who also serves as head writer) and Jonas Vesterberg, is an international spy thriller set in Sweden, Russia, Germany and the USA, and revolves around a murder investigation led by Swedish agent Carl Hamilton (Norwegian rising star Jakob Oftebro). The detective will soon come to realise that the assassination is probably linked to a series of public cyber attacks across Scandinavia.

Other confirmed cast members include actress Katia Winter (Negative, Knight of Cups) as Sonja, newcomer Chris Austin as Sami al-Ahfiz and thesp Nigel Barber (Funny Girl, Dead Destination) as Victor Pence.

Shooting in Lithuania began at the end of May and will be completed by the beginning of July. The crew will then continue filming in Sweden. The series is being shot in English, Swedish and other languages, in order to maintain the authenticity of the show.

Hamilton is being produced by Patrick Nebout and Mia Sohlman for DramaCorp (Sweden), by Petra Jönsson and Martina Stöhr for Kärnfilm (Sweden), and by Gabija Siurbytė for Dansu Film (Lithuania), in co-operation with German public broadcaster ZDF. The series is set to air during the last quarter of 2019 on C More and at the beginning of 2020 on TV4. German firm Beta Film currently holds the rights for international sales.
