Written by the director alongside Matthieu Serveau, the story centres around thirty-three year old Klara, who’s an interpreter for the French Army. After discovering the horrors of war in Syria, she’s transferred to Nice to join Operation Sentinel. Here, with the help of her mother and sister Tania, she tries to piece herself back together. But one night, after an evening spent in a nightclub, Tania is found half dead on the beach, raped and beaten up. Klara will do everything she can to track down Tania’s attackers and avenge her sister. This merciless hunt will lead her towards Yvan Kadnikov, the son of a powerful Russian oligarch on the Côte d’Azur…

Produced by Julien Madon (one of the European Film Promotion’s Producers on the Move 2016) and Julien Leclercq on behalf of Labyrinthe Cinéma, Sentinelle was co-produced by Belgian firm Umedia. The film was shot over 35 days in Belgium (Brussels), Morocco (Casablanca) and France (Antibes and Nice).

For the record, Julien Leclerc is also currently working on the series Braqueurs for Netflix (starring Hamid Hlioua), which will be different from the film of the same name.
